Meet Sheryl White
Author of Underground Angel, Musician, Theologian, Ministry and Community Leader
Dr. Sheryl White is the founder of Underground Angel Ministries. Previously she served six years as the Development Coordinator and grant writer for Youth Core Ministries (YCM) in South Central Kansas. She served YCM at the Barron Theater in Pratt, KS where a youth center was created and a community theater supported this significant work . Prior to this position White served as the Director of Lay Ministries at the First United Methodist Church in Pratt, Kansas for almost ten years.
Sheryl has ministered to children and youth in a professional ministry position for 30 years, served college students for 11 years, and volunteered with youth and children her entire career. Sheryl received her Doctorate of Ministry Degree in 2004 from Houston Graduate School of Theology. Sheryl wrote Underground Angel, a historical fiction work from her doctoral project: "The Haviland Heritage Foundation: Extending the Life of Laura S. Haviland in 21st Century Haviland and Beyond." The Haviland Heritage Foundation is a non-profit organization she created as a part of her ministry project. Underground Angel is the true-life story of Laura Haviland framed in historical fiction and published in November 2013.
Sheryl currently lives and serves the community of Haviland, Kansas, named for Mrs. Haviland and has done so for fourteen years. She has served as an instructor at Barclay College and Minister of Education at the Haviland Friends Church. She is also a graduate from Anderson University School of Theology, Anderson, Indiana earning two degrees, a Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Theology and Ethics. Sheryl earned a bachelor’s degree from Mid-America Christian University in music with an emphasis in piano performance. Sheryl is an ordained minister in the Church of God-Anderson. Her passion for the poor led her to serve the Agape Clinic for the uninsured and the Hope Center as a founding board member in Pratt, KS.
